Growing up on a small horse farm in Hickory NC, Tuffer Howell developed a love for horses. As a youngster, he rode and drove ponies and horses like most kids ride bikes. As a teenager, Tuffer became involved in competing in rodeos in the calf roping and team roping events. At the age of 14 Tuffer began working for Classic Carriage Rides and for two years he washed horses and drove carriages. At the end of 2005 Classic Carriage Rides moved to Florida and shut down but Tuffer loved working with horses and driving carriages. In 2006, Tuffer decided that he would take his life long experience with horses and put it to use so he decided to start his own business "Carolina Carriage Company". Over the past 14 years, Carolina Carriage has quickly become well known across the state and has earned the reputation for having top knotch horses, equipment and professionalism. Today, the business resides at Tuffer's farm called 'Haven Valley Farm" in Bethlehem, just outside of Hickory and all of the horses are kept and cared for daily by Tuffer and his wife Chassidy. Carolina Carriage now has 12 carriages and 10 beautiful Percheron, Belgian, Clydesdale and Spotted Draft horses. All of the employees are family and close friends and we take pride in being a faith centered, family oriented business.
